The Legend

    A valiant knight, tired of court life, departed from the cold northern region in search of the luxuriant land between Florence and Siena, nurtured by soft hillsides and inhabited by a simple and hard-working population. Having overcome steep ridges, impetuous waterways and thick woods, the knight decides to spend the night beneath a large oak tree near Florence.

  • Road between Florence and Siena

    Awoken by the sun and birds singing, the knight finds himself in front of a farmer staring at him curiously. The knight describes the land he is looking for to the farmer and asks which direction he should go to find it. The man looked at him and answered "Sir, I don't know what you are looking for, but here you are halfway", meaning halfway between Florence and Siena.

    The knight looked around and, astonished by the beauty of those soft hillsides and surrounding countryside, decided that his trip had come to an end and called that new, splendid dwelling place "Halfway" - MezzaStrada.
